My Lord,
I ought also to send copy of conditions, & which he has infringed; I fear, if we do so we shall have further correspondence, but perhaps the matter should be made clear. C.P.D. Shall we redraft?

With reference to your Lordship's letter 2.7659/97, referring to a small piece of building land taken from Government of Hong Kong, on consequence of my Agent in that Colony, failing to pay Crown Rent when due, I most respectfully and humbly beg that your Lordship may be pleased to order that I receive the $275 I paid the Hong Kong, Gov? for a precedent for the said land, and as this I humbly beg to point out the very generous way your Lordship treated the case of a gentleman at Pretoria, a veteran whose name I think was de Wet, late British Agent at Pretoria, whose case I saw in the Standard. That your Lordship will be pleased to treat me in as generous & liberal a way as was done in that case, and grant your obedient Servant this small favour.
